How to Help Kids Thrive Online: A Look at the Key Challenges and Opportunities of Our Digital World

It seems like every time you turn around today, you hear stories about how smartphones, social media, and video games are negatively affecting our kids. But there are also plenty of opportunities for kids to use tech in academic, creative, and supportive ways. So how can parents decode what they need to be concerned about and what they don't?

In this discussion we’ll move beyond the sensational headlines to better understand the current digital landscape and how it's really affecting our kids. With a focus on what the latest research is telling us about how and why kids are using screens, and how they may affect sleep, anxiety, depression, body image, and more, this presentation will provide parents and educators with insights, practical tips, and a better understanding of how to make media and tech a positive force in our kids’ lives.

  • Sevilla Elementary School - East Campus

At the Sevilla East campus, our new school theme this year is: Oh The Places You’ll Go When You Are a Sevilla East Spartan!

Oh the places we will go when you are a Sevilla East Spartan; this applies to students, staff, and parents! We are excited about the implementation of AVID this school year on our campus.  AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID will be one of the important vehicles that will help our scholars to achieve success. We know that it is not an achievement gap, it is an opportunity gap. At Sevilla East we will continue to provide our students with a wealth of opportunities that support and strengthen their academic, physical, and social-emotional growth.
