About the Alhambra Preschool Program

It is the mission of the Alhambra Preschool Academy to provide a fully integrated preschool program to foster the child's social and emotional growth as well as their physical and mental development.
The goal of the preschool is to guide each child in the growth of their total personality. Areas related to physical, mental, emotional, and social development are all given equal attention when preparing a curriculum to fit the needs of each child. A child's self-expression, creativity, and analytical thinking are worked out in play. Through observations, the teacher may help a child succeed in areas where they do not excel. The teachers strive to aid each child in developing a positive image of themself.
The Following are Preschool Programs that are offered within the District:
AOK Preschool Program
- Alhambra Opportunity Klub (AOK) is a tuition-based school year extended day program. The program is 5 days with times from 6:30 am -5-pm. The academic part of the day begins at around 8:30 and ends at 3:00. Parents can drop off their child after 6:30 am and pick up no later than 5 pm. We service children that are 3 or 4 by August 31st. The program has a registration fee of $50.00 as well as a weekly fee of $185.00. We do have the Quality First Program within AOK that reduces the amount the parents pay per week to $25.00. The family does need to qualify by income twice the federal government poverty level. We do require the child to stay at least the times of 8:30 to 3:00, to be in the Quality First program.
Full-Day Hours of Operation: 6:30 am to 5:00 pm (Monday through Friday)
Developmental Preschool Program
- The developmental preschool program serves children with special needs that are 3 or 4 within the school year that live within school district boundaries. To be eligible for this program, the child must be evaluated and screened to determine if the child qualifies for the program. The program is a half day program that runs only 4 days of the week.
Half-Day Hours of Operation:
AM Session: 7:15 am to 10:45 am (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
PM Session: 11:15 am to 2:45 pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)Head Start
- Head Start is a Federally funded project that provides an extensive school-year preschool program for children 3 and 4 years of age. Children must be 3 or 4 by August 31st to enroll. Family's income must meet Federal poverty level requirements, we offer full and part-day classes. Part-Day classes operate four days per week. There is no fee for participation. Hours may vary slightly by school location.

Stepping Stone Preschool
A Stepping Stone Preschool promotes adult literacy and encourages parents to support the educational experiences to strengthen the relationship between home and school. The preschool links early childhood experiences with adult education in order to prepare parents to help their children succeed in school.
Parents must have an adult education need to qualify for A Stepping Stone Program. This program is located at Westwood Primary, 4711 N. 23rd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85015
